Art Directing a Live Performance Music Video

for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

It was great working with J-Squared Productions shopping, set dressing, and overall art directing this live performance of “Deserve Better” by KB Mike for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I was happy to utilize some props from my collection too - the red classic rotary phone and plant along with "Squee" a doll I handmade from fabric scraps. Thanks again to Victoria Sou and Spacegray Studios for thinking of me for this project <3

Specialty Paper Flowers & Clouds

Set Dressing with Draping & Practical Lighting

For the fashion film Escalate, I made custom handpainted paper flowers and a cloud tunnel with twinkle lights. I also learned how to set C-stands, drape around escalators, and some SFX hazing techniques. So inspired working with everyone on this set - thank you so much to Production Designer Victoria Sou for welcoming me to the team and my first on screen credit <3

Seahorse in the dragon playground + Dragon playground in the trees + In the dragon playground, Series of three watercolor & ink on matte photo prints, each approx. 10" x 8".

The Dragon Playground has stood the test of time and is one of the oldest
playgrounds in Singapore. It was conceptualised by Housing & Development
Board (HDB) Interior Designer and watercolor painter Khor Ean Ghee, as part of a series of animal-themed playgrounds built in Singapore's public housing
estates in the 1970s. The dragon's head and tail are orange from mosaic tiles that were used as a practical cladding to avoid having to repaint the playround periodically. It's colorful body of steel rings for children to climb through is well worn from happy running feet. Inside the dragon’s head is blue and slides lead down from either side to the sand pit below where a seahorse awaits excitedly.

In Chinese mythology, dragons are revered as divine mystical creatures that bring wealth and good fortune and this dragon brings happy memories.

Originally a charcoal live sketch from TheARTI$T's Velvet Live Performance... Later it turned into a colorful mix of acrylic, watercolors, and ink inspired by Dionysus of Greek mythology and the soul’s inner journey. It’s infused with symbols of growth, vitality, and the abundance of nature’s bounties. A reminder of our interconnectedness and a celebration of a flourishing life thriving with a hope for the inner self to evolve, embrace joy and transformation.

Thank you to Tiffany Ray of Hapeville Maker Space for inviting me to show this piece at The Art of Black Wealth: Celebrating Legacy, Prosperity, and Power event highlighting innovative approaches to building wealth within creative industries.

ᎢᏣᎩ ᎧᎹᎹ (itsagi kamama)

Excited my first public art installation is to be 1 of 10 artists sponsored by the Hapeville Main Street Board to paint my custom springtime themed butterfly design on a 3′ x 3′ fiberglass sculpture to bring new life into the uniqueness and vibrancy of Hapeville’s Downtown. You can see all of the beautiful public art installations and discover Hapeville through the Main Street butterfly tour.

My design 🌸🌸🌸 ᎢᏣᎩ ᎧᎹᎹ 🌸🌸🌸 is inspired by and dedicated to my ancestors.

Did you know ᎢᏣᎩ (itsagi) is a traditional Cherokee women’s name that also represents the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and ᎧᎹᎹ (kamama) is Cherokee for “butterfly”? I live in Georgia where they are the state butterfly and there’s a family of them that thrive in my momma’s garden every year. Thank you to the Cherokee Nation's Education Services for helping me learn their name <3

Some sneak peeks from my painting process 🦋

🦋 ᎢᏣᎩ ᎧᎹᎹ flew from my painting hands in May 2024

She landed behind the Academy Theatre in Hapeville’s Arts Alley ✨✨✨
