Our experimental short Hello Hatch 102 world premiered in Atlanta, GA on March 3rd 2025 to a full house at the historic Plaza Theatre as one of 23 amazing short films screening in the 100 Feet of Film Project competition presented by the Atlanta Film Society and Kodak Film Lab Atlanta.
We shot on a limited 100ft reel of Kodak VISION3 500T Color Negative 16mm film stock #7219 with a vintage 1957 clockwork eumig C16R cine camera that I found online being sold for parts and was able to clean and repair in time for the competition.
This strange 3 minute and 33 second piece shares our deep fascination with dreams and takes shape in a weird stream of consciousness depicting universal souls. Cosmos sings. Yang calls. Yin answers? Surreal imagery and an uncanny soundscape imbue a sense of unease and mystery. When you watch, you may have that unshakable, strange feeling that something is just slightly... off.
Hello Hatch 102 had its New York Premiere on March 28th 2025 in Brooklyn at the Millennium Film Workshop. In August 2025 it won an honorable mention at D.I.Y. Film Fest + Emotional Freedom Lab (Strange Shorts 2025) in Long Beach, California standing out for its boldness, originality, and DIY spirit. It premiered internationally in Japan on September 13th 2025 at Highland Super8 Film Festival -super8 never die - a film festival in Tokyo screening 30x 8mm/16mm film productions from all over the world sharing the feeling that "film is good" with many people.
This past autumn, Hello Hatch 102 placed as a Quarter-Finalist at the 2025 Australian Independent Film Festival in Brisbane and won an honorable mention at Pollen: Video Spells in Brooklyn. We also celebrated an exciting weekend of 2 screenings in one night on Saturday, October 4th. At the 2nd Annual AVC Fest: AWAKENED - a celebration of underground film, radical art, and experimental performance - Hello Hatch 102 screened in the Experimental Film Hour dedicated to visually immersive and conceptually bold short films that bend form, expand perception, and challenge what cinema can be. Then at the 2025 Peaberry Film Festival we screened in the block Inspired by David Lynch which also included a post-film Q&A with the filmmakers. Hosted by Twin Peaks content creator Sein Peaks "Honoring David Lynch" brought local, regional, & international shorts to the Historic Canton Theatre.
Next up Hello Hatch 102 has been selected for the 2026 Native Lens Digital Series. Now in its fifth year, Native Lens is a collaborative film and video project headquartered on Ute land in Southern Colorado and hosted by KSUT Tribal Radio and Rocky Mountain PBS. The project provides training initiatives and showcases films produced by Indigenous peoples in North America. By sharing firsthand Native perspectives, Native Lens works to amplify Indigenous voices through storytelling.
